    Belgrade experience:
    program of the Salon of MoCA Gallery and different initiatives

    Una Popović (1978) is the curator for contemporary art working in the Museum of Contemporary Art in Belgrade. She is employed 10 years now as curator at the Salon of the Museum of Contemporary Art, a gallery which belongs to the Museum that is devoted to presenting and exhibiting current and recent artistic positions, local and international alike. In her talk Popović will present one of the most important galleries in Belgrade, the ideas and program of the Salon of MoCAB. She will speak about different initiatives and international collaborations and exhibitions that were held in past few years. Trough gallery program Popović will address on contemporary and actual practice in Serbia. From 2007 till 2017 the Museum of Contemporary Art was closed due the reconstruction. During that time gallery Salon of Museum of Contemporary Art made a vital part, so one key of presentation will be introduction to different initiatives and strategies that was held in order to overcome the crisis of a closed institution.

    Biography
    Una Popović is an art historian and curator from Belgrade. She holds a degree in Art History from the Faculty of  Philosophy in Belgrade and Msc. degree in Cultural Theory at the Faculty of Political Sciences in Belgrade. Since 2007, Popović has worked as a curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Belgrade. Her work is directly linked with explorations in the field of contemporary art, from historical conceptualism to contemporary practices. Her many projects – workshops, art exhibitions, presentations, and texts on artists – are characterised not only by the breadth and sheer extent of the knowledge and learning they demonstrate, but also by the specificity and depth of her critical approach. In 2013, she was invited as a guest curator to the Tate Modern in London, where she co-curated the exhibition Inverted House at the Tate Modern’s Project Space gallery. Among others, her recent projects in curating and co-curating include Formless: Fluid Reality in New Media Art, Istanbul Bilgy University, Istanbul; It happened tomorrow, cooperation with Zahenta Gallery, Warsaw. Ways to Overcome, an international group exhibition in collaboration with Künstlerhaus Bremen, Germany (2013) etc.
