introductive information

The two-semester foundation course is compulsory for students in both specialisations (teacher training and fine art). The aim is to lay the foundations for independent artistic practice. Students learn to assess their interests, abilities and talents. They gain a comprehensive understanding of the art college so that, once the foundation course is complete, they are well-equipped to choose a specialism. In the foundation class, students can intensify the artistic development they have already begun. In addition, they are encouraged to explore new artistic avenues and experiment with media they have not previously used. Lectures and excursions encourage students to deepen their knowledge and understanding of historical and contemporary art developments. Alongside continuous artistic practice, regular participation in discussions and critique sessions is a mandatory requirement for the successful completion of the foundation course.
