1. Please submit an application to the studio class instructor of your choice (Application Form 1), requesting approval for admission to the Meisterschüler programme. The studio class instructor will decide on admission based on the artistic works submitted or documentation thereof, and will confirm acceptance in writing on the application form.

2. The studio class instructor’s written confirmation of acceptance must be submitted together with the application to the Rector for admission to the Meisterschüler programme (Application Form 2) – by 1 February at the latest for the summer semester, and by 1 August at the latest for the winter semester. The following documents must also be enclosed:

the degree certificate of the Diploma in Fine Arts, or the certificate of the First State Examination (Erste Staatsprüfung) or Master’s degree in Art Education (Lehramt) at grammar school level, or an equivalent qualification from a university in Germany or abroad;
a declaration stating whether you have already forfeited your right to examination in a Meisterschüler programme at another university in Germany;
proof of German or English language proficiency, if your higher education entrance qualification was not obtained at a German- or English-speaking institution and you have not completed a degree programme taught in German or English (§ 4, paragraph 3).

3. With the Rector’s approval, you may apply to the University of Mainz for admission to the Meisterschüler programme in accordance with the general provisions of the enrolment regulations of Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz.

During the examination registration period, you must also register for the examination via JOGU-StINe. For any questions, please contact the student office.
