Martin Schwenk

He was born in Bonn in 1960. From 1981 to 1987, he studied at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Düsseldorf under Günther Uecker. From 1999 to 2003, he was a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Düsseldorf. In 2001, he participated in the “Transfer” project of the Cultural Secretariat of North Rhine-Westphalia, which promoted cooperation between Israel and North Rhine-Westphalia. Since 2010, he has been a professor of sculpture at the Mainz Academy of Fine Arts.

Awards, Scholarships, Selection

He received the Bergisch Art Prize in Solingen in 1993. The following year, he received a working grant from the Bonn Art Fund. The following year, he received the Karl Schmidt-Rottluff Fellowship and spent time at the German Study Center in Venice. In 1998, he received project funding from the Art and Culture Foundation of North Rhine-Westphalia.
