    Fine Arts Diploma program

The Fine Arts degree program is designed to prepare students to work as freelance artists. The artistic studies take place in artistic classes and are accompanied by theoretical lectures. Both the lectures and the classes are attended by students from both degree programs together.

    Basic studies (1st-4th semester)

    • 1st and 2nd semester artistic work in the basic class.
From the 3rd semester onwards, artistic work in the studios of the classes, which are led by the art teachers, and in the central workshops of the art academy (under the technical guidance and supervision of the workshop leaders). Participation in theoretical courses in art history (compulsory) and other courses with other art-related content. The foundation course concludes with the intermediate diploma.

    Main studies (5th-9th semester)

    • The course of study depends on the individually determined degree and character of the student’s personal artistic development. The individual’s artistic objectives and directions unfold in a process of acquiring specific procedures as well as productive self-expression; the critical examination of the artistic self-image and formal language of the class teacher and other class members; and, in addition, in the examination of the artistic achievements of other classes and, in general, in working through the artistic events of one’s own time and their historical context. For reasons of personal artistic teaching, it is not possible to provide (generalized) curricular information beyond this. The main course of study concludes either with the diploma after the 9th semester or with a certificate of study after the 8th semester.
