Thank you for your interest in studying at our academy.
We offer two degree programmes:
Fine Arts (Diploma Programme) and Bildende Kunst für das Lehramt an Gymnasien (Bachelor’s/Master’s of Education).
Admission to the programme requires:
a) passing the aptitude test at Kunsthochschule Mainz.
b) enrolment at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz.
Applications for the summer semester in 2026 are now open.
The deadline for applications for the aptitude test is 31 October 2025.
Applications must be submitted online via our application portal.
The aptitude test consists of two parts:
a) Portfolio review: 10 and 11 November 2025.
You must pass this in order to be admitted to the interview for the aptitude test. Five full-time teachers will review and evaluate the artistic applications received.
b) Aptitude test interview:
26 and 27 November 2025
After passing the portfolio review, you will receive an invitation to a 15-minute personal interview by email.
If you pass the two-stage aptitude test, you can apply for a place at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. Applications must be submitted by 15 January 2026. Further information on the exact procedure will be provided with the notification that you have passed the aptitude test.
