Foundation Class
Introductory information
The two-semester foundation course is compulsory for students of both subject areas (teacher training and fine arts). The aim is to lay the foundations for independent artistic work. Students learn to assess their interests, abilities and talents. They gain a comprehensive orientation within the art academy so that they can make a well-founded decision for a specialist class after the basic course. In the basic class, students can intensify the artistic development they have already begun, and are also encouraged to explore new artistic paths and try out media they have not previously used. Lectures and excursions encourage students to deepen their knowledge and understanding of historical and contemporary artistic developments. In addition to continuous artistic practice, regular participation in discussions and corrections is a mandatory basis for successful completion of the basic course.
