Declaration of solidarity with the protest movement in Iran

The Academy of Fine Arts Mainz declares its solidarity with the protest movement „Women, Life, Liberty“ and condemns the use of violence by the Iranian government. The protest movement is directed against the systematic human rights violations by the regime of the Islamic Republic. Courageous young women and men, including many students, are leading the protests. They are no longer willing to endure religious paternalism, violence, and terrorization. The Academy of Fine Arts Mainz has a special bond with Iranian art students and joins the statement of Iranian artists, scholars, critics, art historians and curators: “We condemn, in the strongest terms, all forms of arrest, intimidation, and suppression by the regime, and we demand the immediate and unconditional release of all students who have been detained.”

Die Kunsthochschule Mainz erklärt ihre Solidarität mit der Protestbewegung „Women, Life, Liberty“ und verurteilt die Gewaltanwendung der iranischen Regierung. Die Protestbewegung richtet sich gegen die systematischen Menschenrechtsverletzungen durch das Regime der Islamischen Republik. Hauptsächlich tragen mutige, junge Frauen und Männer, darunter viele Studierende die Proteste. Sie sind nicht mehr willens, religiöse Bevormundung, Gewalt und Terrorisierungen zu erdulden. Die Kunsthochschule Mainz ist den iranischen Kunststudent_innen in besonderer Weise verbunden und schließt sich dem Statement iranischer Künstler_innen, Wissenschaftler_innen, Kritiker_innen, Kunsthistoriker_innen und Kurator_innen an: „Wir verurteilen auf das Schärfste alle Formen der Verhaftung, Einschüchterung und Unterdrückung durch das Regime und fordern die sofortige und bedingungslose Freilassung aller inhaftierten Student_innen.“
