Judith Samen became well-known for her allusion-rich photographs of women and children. The highly individualized iconography of her intimate genre scenes makes her work unmistakable and has brought her numerous prizes. Her work is based on an expanded understanding of the arts, in reference to Eat Art and in her mental affinity to fluxus. Judith Samens position also includes work of different media like room installation, video, performance and drawing.

Since 2011 Judith Samen holds the chair for Fine Art photography at the University of Fine Arts, part of the Johannes Gutenberg-University in Mainz, Germany, today.

Her work is shown continuously in exhibitions in museums, galleries and other art spaces, mostly throughout Europe.
